Selkirk Island

William Selkirk (1792-1830), one of Stephen F. Austin’s original “Old Three Hundred” settlers was given one of the first Mexican land grants in 1824. Selkirk’s descendants started developing the property along the Colorado River known as Selkirk Island in 1970. Ownership of this property remained in William Selkirk’s family until 2016.
